Blue Phoenix Metal Works
Jason Haas creates sculptures and furniture using reclaimed metal and wood, mainly found in the North Florida area. The focus of his art is on natural themes, such as animals, fish and birds. The inspiration he gathers is from seeing natural textures and shapes and recreating them from smooth, cold, texture-less metal. Haas uses a unique additive sculptural process that incorporates several types of welding and various cutting and grinding techniques. He primarily uses stainless steel and aluminum, for their weather resistant properties. His art reflects a respect and appreciation for our environment in both a practical and aesthetic way.
Haas attended Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL and received a degree in both fine art and graphic design. He later studied welding at Tulsa Welding School in Jacksonville, FL.
Haas is an American Welding Society certified structural welder and has over a decade of metal fabrication experience in the theme park and attraction business. He has a wealth of knowledge of the proper materials to use in outdoor, public art applications, as well as anchoring and fastening systems. Practical knowledge coupled with a strong design aesthetic make him a strong candidate for any art piece. As an independent subcontractor, he has tackled countless large-scale projects, at destinations such as Legoland, the Atlantis Resort and Casino, Margaritaville and Bass Pro Shops. Locally, he participated in One Spark and Art Walk. He was also featured in ARC Magazine.
